CONCEPT

Technology is the magic thing which can bring more surprise to us. With the development of technology, people are far away from nature living in the metropolis. We want to rebuild the relationship with nature and technique to make people come back to nature even using the technique. the installation confirms an expectation that technology, instead of alienating the relationship between human and nature, is a new language to advocate the interaction and communication between human and nature.

How It Works

Interactive Branches

When people walk into the installation, the lights will light up by following your steps. It is controlled by the ultrasonic sensor to sense the distance. Sensors send data to Arduino board to control switch of the lights.

Signal Lights

Signal lights aim to guide the audience to interact with the flowers on the tree when they are getting closer. According to user testing, many audiences couldn't figure out how to light up the flowers. So my team decided to add signal lights.

Breathing Tree Trunk

Tree Trunk starts to breath when people get closer to the tree. It aims to add the experience of living creatures for the audience.

Interactive Flower

The flower will not light up until the audience stands close enough to the tree and wave their hands. It also provides an opportunity for participants to light up the whole tree by collaborating with others.
